This is the second individual song which was sent to us by this newly-founded band from Canada. Sometime ago I wrote another review concerning another song of them, “I See a Sign”.
For those who didn’t have a chance to read it, here’s a few info on the band: DIZY were founded in Canada in 2012 and now they are tryin' to find their way into the music business. They play live in every given occasion and so far they have been the opening act for bands like HELIX, APRIL WINE, ANVIL etc. Their sound is the classic Heavy Metal sound of the ‘80’s which is not bad at all.
When I listened to the first song, I was pleasantly surprised by the very “tight” sound of the band, plus the excellent old-fashioned guitar riffs. The only “negative” element, I might say, is the fact that this specific song was bringing to my mind the works of Ozzy in the ‘80’s.
In this second song, named ‘Drown’, I see the same elements in their music, but there is a small, yet important, difference: It doesn’t remind me of Ozzy! This time the sound and style is more personal, and that’s something positive for sure, which I had to point out.
‘Drown’ is based on strong guitar riffs, whilst on the background the rhythm section of drums and bass gives a ‘tight’ and ‘heavy’ feeling. The singer has a good voice for this genre, and fits their music perfectly. Now, in comparison with their first song, ‘I See a sign’, ‘Drown’ has a more personal sound, but it is less eccentric, and surely less of a hit-to-be. What do I mean by this? That, if I had to pick one song to play in my radio show, I would pick ‘I See a Sign’.
